What would you change about the world? Playing for the Cause can help by engaging your fans in support of your cause in their own hometowns. We combine micro-philanthropy and fan engagement into a simple way to change the world while preserving your bottom line.
How it works:
Tell us what you want to change or what you love. In other words, pick a cause. We can help.
Tell us where you are going on tour.
Let us handle the rest.
We will find the best nonprofits in each city along your tour through our grant application process. Then we equip you with all the tools you need to tell your fans about what you are supporting, including branded pages where fans can buy tickets and make donations to chosen nonprofits; social media support; and a mobile giving platform. We will also publicize your campaign through traditional press releases and in our partnership with GoogleAds. Every musician receives a dedicated dashboard to track how much money has been raised in each city and where that money is going.

Micro-philanthropy is lots of people making small gifts to a make a big impact.
+ What does it cost to partner with Playing for the Cause?
Nothing. We take 15% of the total donated to cover our fees.
+ Am I required to donate?
No, we recognize that being a musician isn’t always a lucrative business.
+ What if I want to make a donation?
Fantastic, you can make a fully tax-deductible donation to Playing for the Cause and we will make sure your donation is divided equally among the nonprofits supported throughout a tour.
+ Why do you choose a nonprofit for each tour stop?
This is part of our fan engagement strategy. By choosing a nonprofit in their city, it shows you care about things that impact them directly and that makes them love you even more and it makes them more likely to give.
+ Can I choose my own nonprofits?
Of course. If you have a charity in mind in each city, we will reach out to them directly and let them know you plan to support them. Or, if you don’t have a charity in mind, we will open grant applications and let you choose from the top 3 to 5 applications in each city.
+ How does the mobile platform work?
Fans text your keyword to 33733 and receive a message back with instructions and a link to your giving page.
+ Can we use the “add a dollar to the ticket price” model and still work with Playing for the Cause to choose the supported charities?
Yes, but the added fee would have to be managed by the ticket merchant. Then funds would be transferred to Playing for the Cause for distribution. We also ask that you tell your fans what you are supporting. For example “$1 of your ticket will go to support animal welfare in St. Louis”
