Powered by Playing for the Cause allows your nonprofit to undertake a temporary mobile giving campaign without the investment in a full mobile giving system.  Playing for the Cause will manage all of the administrative pieces of the campaign, including gift processing, leaving the promotion to you.

Playing for the Cause will provide:

  1. Two mobile giving keywords
  2. A check for 85 to 90% of donated funds mailed on the 30th of the month following the event, or a check in the same percentage mailed monthly for ongoing programs or recurring gifts.
  3. The names, addresses, email, phone numbers, and gift amounts for individual donors.

It’s easy for your donors and fans to give.  They simply text your keyword to 33733 and immediately after, they will receive 2 texts; one with all the important legal disclosures and a second with instructions to make their gift. If they do not complete their pledge immediately, they can receive up to two follow-up texts on day 3 and day 5.

  All gifts will be processed through the Playing for the Cause website on page specially branded for your nonprofit. We use Stripe as our payment processor, so your donors can rest assured their transactions are secure.

A: Performing arts organizations and nonprofits that are hosting one-time events are especially well suited for mobile giving.

+ What kind of events work best for mobile giving?

A: Performance based events with print materials that are distributed in advance (theater, music, dance, etc). You can print the mobile giving information in programs for donors to see prior to opening curtain and during intermission.

+ Can we choose our own mobile giving keywords?

A: Yes, as long as it is available in our system. We do recommend you keep the keywords to no longer than 6 characters

+ What does it cost to use Powered by Playing for the Cause?

A: Playing for the Cause charges 10% of the total raised by the mobile campaign.

+ What do those fees cover?

A: Playing for the Cause administration fees, including the cost of our mobile giving platform.

+ Are our donors limited to $10 gifts?

A: No, all gifts are processed like a regular online donation and donors can give as much or as little as they like.

+ Are gifts tax-deductible?

A: Yes, all gifts are 100% tax deductible and Playing for the Cause takes care of the tax-acknowledgement letters. We encourage you to also send letters thanking donors without tax language.

+ Are we allowed to continue traditional fundraising while we are running a mobile giving campaign?

A: Yes, Playing for the Cause never requires fundraising blackouts.

+ Does Playing for the Cause promote our events?

A: We leave event promotion to you, but we will happily share your social media.

+ Is there any special wording recommended for campaign promotion?

A: Playing for the Cause provides “badges” you can use to promote your campaign (see attached). The FCC requires certain disclosures when promoting a mobile giving campaign in print.
